English-Spanish Dictionary

1. SUMMARY

English-Spanish Dictionary does not require an account, does not show ads,
and does not use analytics or tracking tools. We do not collect, store, or
sell your personal information on any server of our own. Almost everything
the app remembers stays on your device. The one exception is the optional
online word lookup, explained in section 3.

2. INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE

To work properly, the app saves the following on your device only. This
information is never sent to us.

• Words you bookmark.
• Words you look up online, saved so they work offline next time.
• Your daily reminder settings (on or off, and the time you choose).
• Your learning progress: your daily streak, how many practice sentences
  you completed today, the sentences you marked “Still learning”, and
  where you stopped in each practice set.

You can erase all of this at any time by clearing the app’s storage in your
phone’s Settings, or by uninstalling the app.

3. ONLINE WORD LOOKUP (THE ONLY DATA THAT LEAVES YOUR DEVICE)

If you search for a word that is not in the built-in dictionary, the app
offers a “Search Online” button. Only when you tap it, the app sends the
English word you typed to the MyMemory translation service
(mymemory.translated.net) to get a Spanish translation.

What is sent: the word or text you typed.
What the service can see: your IP address, as with any internet request.
What is not sent: your name, email, device identifiers, bookmarks,
practice progress, or any other information.

MyMemory is operated by a third party and has its own privacy practices.
Please see its website for details. The app does not make this request
unless you tap the button.

4. NOTIFICATIONS

The app can show a daily notification with five words to learn. These
notifications are created and scheduled entirely on your device. No
notification content or schedule is sent to any server.

On Android 13 and newer, the app asks for your permission before showing
notifications. You can turn the reminder off inside the app (Daily 5 Words
screen) or turn notifications off in your phone’s Settings at any time.

5. PERMISSIONS THE APP USES

• Internet: used only for the optional online word lookup described above.
• Notifications: used only to show the daily words reminder.

The app does not request access to your contacts, location, camera,
microphone, photos, or files.

6. THIRD-PARTY CONTENT

Some practice sentences (“More” sets) come from the Tatoeba project
(tatoeba.org) and are used under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0
France license (CC BY 2.0 FR). Tatoeba sentences are included in the app
itself; using them does not send any data to Tatoeba.

7. DATA SHARING AND SALE

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information. We have no
advertising partners and no analytics providers. The only third party the
app contacts is the translation service described in section 3.

8. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone,
including children. Because the app collects no personal information, no
information from children is stored or shared by us.

9. DATA SECURITY

Your saved data stays in the app’s private storage on your device, which
other apps cannot normally access. Online lookups use an encrypted (HTTPS)
connection.

10. YOUR CHOICES

• Do not tap “Search Online” if you do not want any text sent to the
  translation service.
• Turn the daily reminder off in the app, or block notifications in your
  phone’s Settings.
• Delete your saved data by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling.

11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this policy
and change the effective date at the top. Please review it from time to
time.
